Chrisette Michele...

For anyone that knows me, you know that I am BIG into music. Recently, music has been garbage and good artists are few and far between.

Well this chick Chrisette Michele is really impressing me right now and is showing a lot of promise. I would describe her style as Jill Scott Meets Lauryn Hill Meets Billy Holiday. She's most recently been featured on Jay-Z's "Lost One" and Nas' "Can'tForget About You".

An absolutely amazing talent that is definately on my radar.

Check out an article on her here.

Interesting article and video clip. The woman definitely has talent. And, she's a Christian! That's crazy! (Not because Christians don't have talent, but because she premiered on Nas and Jay's albums. Something about that didn't make me think she would be speaking out about her love of Christ).

interesting KB. Just out of curiosity, do you think it would surprise folks who know you're a Christian that you listen to Nas and Jay regularly?

Nah, I don't think so... Just because the people at my church expect young people to listen to such things. And everyone else who knows me knows I'm a hip hop head.

It's just rare that anyone in the "secular" music world steps out and says 'I'm a Christian, and I don't want to compromise my beliefs to make music.' (That's a paraphrase from the first paragraph of the article). Like, would she have turned Jay-Z down if he would have asked her to do the hook for 'Anything'(the stripper song with Usher)?

If so, that's tight. That's integrity that isn't seen in the music world.

I'm really interested in her definition of "compromising."
