Menace II Society: The NBA All-Star Weekend Edition

Willie from our affiliate site Neosemantics wrote a piece about his experience in Las Vegas for All-Star Weekend. In the post, he talks about the negative images and activities that he witnessed while he was there and raises some questions as to why Black culture is the way that it is and how the rest of the World views us after we all descend on one location. Very interesting read. Here are a couple excerpts...

I attended the NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas this past weekend and all I have to say is, “OH MY GOODNESS!!!” Black Peoples, we are in a world of trouble! Actually, after seeing what I saw this weekend, I am no longer considering myself Black...

A gentleman had on a jacket that read “Rich Bastard” in diamonds, while another gentleman had a huge stack of $20 dollar bills and walked around the casino with them in his hands. Why? ...

The rest of the piece can be viewed at A Black Identity.

Both of our blogs and a host of others can be viewed at rtp411.net under the Retronym portal of the site.

I totally can relate to his article. I moved to Miami a year ago and I know when a holiday weekend comes up not to go out...Why? Cause BLACK people are in town.

We have a long way to go. As a race we are not wealthy because of "niggerish" behavior like that. We are too interested in showing off our money. Instead of creating companies that make lots of money.

Money is all relative. Jay Z and Puffy are worth around $300 Million in there late 30s. They are not even close to being in the forbes 400. The lowest people on the list are worth around $1.5 Billion.

We need a mental change. I wrote on this blog about that subject. (Think and Grow Rich or Stay Poor)

I went to Miami during Urban Beach weekend. I didn't know that it was that weekend. I never heard of Urban Beach weekend. Just thought me and my girls were going to Miami for Memorial day weekend. Big Mistake!! That was the only time in my life where I wanted to die....
